Social mixed doubles tournament to open the season

tennis ballCome down and start the season in style with our mixed doubles tournament on Sunday 26 April from 12pm to 5pm.

Players of all standards are welcome – we’ll be mixing up the pairs to make them as even as possible, so come along and join in. Matches will all be 20 minutes long, with finals between 4 and 5pm.

It’s only £5 to enter – registration opens at 11:30am for a midday start, and lunch will be served from 1.30-2.15. There’ll be a barbeque, sandwiches and cakes to buy for a small fee, AND prizes, a raffle and a ‘best dressed’ competition.

MB ladies are division A champions

The Mersey Bowmen first team ladies – Division A champions in the Liverpool league, and inventors of the ‘telfie’ – the ‘tennis selfie’…

Mersey Bowmen’s ladies’ A team celebrated becoming league champions for the second time in four years, having won division A of the Liverpool League in the summer. The ladies’ B team also had a great year, winning promotion from division C to division B.

The men’s A team retained its place in B division this season, and the B team just missed out on promotion from G, while the men’s C team have been promoted to division H.

The 2015 league season starts in the last week in April – if you’re interested in playing league tennis at Mersey Bowmen this season, come and join us, or pop down for social tennis and meet some club members…

Tennis for FREE

Mersey Bowmen hosts Tennis for Free sessions every Sunday morning, where you can come along, join in, and see if tennis is the game for you – or ease yourself back in if you’ve not played for a while…

Tennis for Free runs until Summer 2015, from 10am – 12 noon every Sunday morning. All sessions are led by LTA coaches and the minimum age for juniors is four, while there’s no upper limit for the adult coaching.

Tennis for Free is open to players of all ages and abilities – from people who’ve never tried tennis before, to people who’ve played in the past and want to get back into it.

We can also provide equipment if you’d like us to, with a range of racquets for all age groups.

You’ll also get free membership for a son or daughter with any adult who joins.

‘Tis the season to play tennis. What with the spring equinox heralding the start of a fine spell of weather, we’re sure, now’s the time to sign up for the season ahead… League matches start in the last week in April, and all players have to be signed up members – click here to check up-to-date membership fees. Spring also sees the start of social tennis in earnest – we’ve already had our first tournament of the season, and you’ll get the benefit of social three times a week, a Saturday morning singles ladder and FREE coaching for six weeks in the summer when you join.

The 2014 season newsletter’s also going out next week, so keep an eye out for that, with the latest information about the clubhouse and courts, parking and housekeeping, and some dates for your diary…
