Liverpool Croquet Club
Just like at Wimbledon, tennis and croquet go hand in hand at Mersey Bowmen. Liverpool Croquet Club is the only club within a 25-mile radius of Liverpool, and has shared our facilities at the Mersey Bowmen since 2010. Catering for players of all ages and abilities, it offers both a social and competitive environment for playing croquet. Golf Croquet is, we’re told, the easier skill to master if you’re new to the game, with Association Croquet available for more experienced and ambitious players.
LCC’s resident coach, James Hawkins, has coached croquet from novice to national level and is a thoroughly encouraging and passionate devotee of the game. He’s even written a book about croquet, you know…
Liverpool Croquet Club is affiliated to the Croquet Association, and to the North West Croquet Federation, which organises leagues across the region, stretching from North Wales to the Lake District. Both cater for Golf and Association Croquet, and for different ability ranges from beginner through to expert. There’s also a thriving tournament network for those who want to compete as individuals against players from other clubs, James tells us.
If you’d like to try croquet for the first time, or are just getting back into the game, speak to James on 07753 450510, click here to email him, or come down and see what’s happening at the club. All equipment is provided – just bring some flat-soled shoes to get yourself started.
There’s all sorts on their website, here, too… Liverpool Croquet Club: www.liverpoolcroquet.co.uk
